CAMS CORUÑA: Cellular Aging and Metabolism Symposium 2026

Facultade de Ciencias da Saúde

Cellular aging and metabolism are deeply interconnected, shaping health, longevity, and susceptibility to disease. Progressive alterations in metabolic pathways underlie the functional decline associated with aging and contribute to the development of age-related disorders, including cancer.

A central hallmark of aging is cellular senescence, a stable cell cycle arrest mechanism with a dual role in biology. While senescence limits the proliferation of damaged cells, the accumulation of senescent cells and their senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) promotes chronic inflammation, tissue dysfunction, and disease progression, particularly in cancer.

CAMS2026 will bring together leading experts to explore the interplay between metabolism, senescence, mitochondrial dysfunction, epigenetic regulation, and tissue microenvironments. Through interdisciplinary discussions, the meeting aims to advance innovative strategies to modulate aging processes and develop therapies to promote healthy aging and disease prevention.
